Literature Text

While eating ramen noodles with Nickolas about twelve hours ago i found out that vampires did have finances. They had to keep their lights on, their water, their dish satelite, their internet, etc. Even though they could live without all of this, i seemed to have found myself living with three vampires who intended to live their long lives in comfort. Sadly though, i mentioned how i would always balance my families checking account. Which had large numbers in it by far.

Well, i should have kept my mouth shut. Nickolas knew i was bored and feeling useless because he somehow figured these things out even before i did, so he put me up to the job of managing the household funds.

Why he would trust me to do this i don't know. But when Nathan came into the library where i was sitting behind the large desk with a pencil in one hand, the calculator in the other, and my head burried behind little notes of how much they spent here and when, he wasn't as happy about my money-managing ability as Nickolas had been. He strolled in front of the desk, stopped, and glared down at me.

"What are you doing?" he questioned through gritted teeth. Only now did i remember the threat that if i got in his way he would murder me; but it didn't make me feel any fear. Instead i itched the bridge of my nose and stared at him like he was stupid for asking that. Like i was supposed to be here because Nickolas placed me where i was.

"I'm balancing the checking account because someone has screwed the entire thing up." i responded before biting my bottom lip and diving back into the maze of numbers. He said nothing, instead he stalked out of the room without closing the door; allowing noise to filter into the room. Noise blasting from a radio somewhere, noise blasting from a TV somewhere else. Along with cussing and screaming that i didn't have a chance to know who was doing it. I rolled my eyes and done the math anyway, i was good at ignoring loudloud noises.

Hour or more later when she's done

Just as i was standing up from the chair Nickolas came in the room carrying a medium sized bag. I looked at the bag then him. He came to the desk which was now organized, all the papers in their respectable folders, and put the bag on the desk. I just looked at him dully, not getting what he was doing.

"Go on, open it." he urged, obviously resisting the urge to roll his eyes at me. I looked at him suspiciously but nodded anyway and opened the bag to find clothes. Then i found out they were in my sizes, exactly to the size of my waist. "I knew you were going to get annoyed with not having anything to wear. Besides thats inhumane. I also knew you didn't need to wear preppy stuff around here, so i got you this stuff. There are seven more bags in your room full of it." he said with a wide smile.

"Why'd you do this for me?" i questioned, adorance in my voice. I didn't even bother correcting what he thought i normally wore. What he picked out was the stuff i wore on a usual basis.

"I just told you. Plus you were doing the balancing and i had to pay you back somehow." he shrugged, like buying me hundreds of dollars worth of clothes when i was so low on the 'food chain' was normal. Without thinking or caring in general i reached over the desk and hugged him tightly.

"Thank you." I whispered in his ear before pulling away. Nathan who had walked in at the moment i began moving over the desk to hug Nickolas stepped further into the room with a sneer on his face.

"Looks like you have another little girl on your fan list." Nathan said acidly. He was glaring at me so hard now, and i didn't even know what i done to him. How could he be mad that i was balancing the funds? That couldn't have been it.

"I am not a little girl, and i am not in his fan club. Maybe if you were nice you'd get hugs from people every once in a while too. People who aren't sluts wanting you to get in their pants." i fired back with just as much heat as Nathan had given me. Maybe even more. He sat in one of the chairs in front of the desk and propped his legs up on the desk, showing off how tall he really was. He was amused i guarantee it!

"So your jealous of these sluts?" he smirked, getting the wrong idea from my rant. I rolled my eyes and threw my arms in the air helplessly.

"No! You conceited little cocky bastard! I'm better than most of them. More hot than most of them. Smarter than most of them. What is there to be jealous of?" i snapped before grabbing the bag, thanking Nickolas again, and storming from the room.

I didn't know it; but Nathan agreed with everything i just said.

Later

I had just got through putting on some of the clothes Nickolas had bought me and fixing my hair when i heard the doorbell ring downstairs. This house was seeming more and more normal all of the time; except the fact they were vampires.

I went barefoot to the top of the stairs and listened to what was being said. It really wasn't any of my business but if they refused to let me go i would just get into their space. The carpet was black and really soft and plush under my toes. I wondered how they kept it cleaned so perfectly when i'd never seen a maid around here, or them cleaning.

"What are you doing here?" i heard Nathan question. He didn't sound pleased with the person at the door, infact he sounded like he hated them. He used the same tone just now that he was always caught using on me.

"I'm here to see Alexandria, the girl you are shacking up here. Or would you rather me tell the authorities that you've kidnapped the Princess?" i recognized Blakes voice automatically. I didn't know how to react. I was freaked out that he actually wanted to see me, amazed that he realized they kidnapped me, and happy that someone actually wanted to talk to me. All at the same time. Part of me wanted to run so nobody could find me until he left while the other wanted to run down the stairs and hug Blake.

"What do you think the authorities will do to you, Blake? When they notice your a dark angel. The black eyes tell all." Nathan sneered back. I could understand why Nickolas said Blake coming over to see me when i wasn't awake caused a riot; i could hear the fact that Nathan wanted to kill him in his voice. It was time i intervened, because it didn't seem that anyone else was going to.

I went down the stairs, making sure to be extra-loud, and when i came into sight Nathan and Blake were looking at the stairs. Both of them were wearing glares, but Blakes turned into a smile when he saw me. He walked straight into the house, banging past Nathan, and came to stand in front of me.

"Your much shorter without any shoes on." he observed as he looked me over from head to toe. I shrugged my shoulders and looked over him at Nathan who was still standing where he had been when Blake brushed past him.

"You sure you aren't one of the sluts you detest so much?" he asked serenely before going through the door to the outside world and closing it behind him. I frowned, he seemed to have the perfect 'compliment' every time i ran into him. I would confront him over why he was an asshole; it was just a matter of time. I turned back to Blake and plastered a smile on my face.

"Want any alcohol? I found out where they store it."
Ninth part of my vampire story. Thanks to all my friends and other people I don't know, who have helped me with them. Ever so grateful to you all.
